Job Profile – PR & Projectmanager at Juvigo

I’m Romie and as PR & Projectmanager Family Travel at Juvigo, I’m a real all-rounder. In addition to all the responsibilities relating to our family holidays, I am taking care of the international online magazines, press relations and our online marketing. I like to spend my free time outdoors with my family or at home at the sewing machine.

How did you come to Juvigo and how long have you been here?

I discovered Juvigo in quite a typical way when I was looking for a new job. The concept immediately caught my attention, as I had been to several holiday camps as a child. So I applied for a job, had a very relaxed and friendly interview, did a test day and then got the job pretty fast. Now I have been part of the Juvigo team since November 2019. After taking care of the online magazine and all our press activities for Juvigo, in 2024 I took on new tasks related to our new platform for family holidays, Famango. I built up a team and together we work on optimizing the website every day.

So your role at Juvigo has changed significantly over the years.

Yes, totally! When I started back in 2019, there was only the idea of an online magazine for the German market. I developed the magazine together with Max, who was responsible for the technical realization in WordPress and filled it with content. This included, for example, conducting interviews with our organizer partners. I also made sure that Juvigo got a name in the press and became better known. The Juvigo magazines are now also available for our markets in Spain, Portugal, Italy, France and the Netherlands and I manage these together with my international colleagues.
Our Famango platform, which specializes in family travel, has also been around since 2024. Famango is the expert for unforgettable family trips, where you can find a unique range of child-friendly and family-friendly holiday destinations worldwide. I am delighted that our CEO Björn has entrusted me with this task and that I have been leading our Famango team ever since.

What are your main tasks as a teamlead?

The tasks as a teamlead are very extensive and range from content and marketing to acquisition tasks. And at the very beginning, of course, there is recruiting, because only together with a team can a new platform like Famango become successful. Together, we focus on search engine marketing, curate family holidays and are also always on the lookout for suitable partners who would like to sell their family holidays via Famango. Due to the abundance of tasks, I have to keep an overview, provide the whole team with tasks and report the results to our CEO. I also organize regular training sessions and feedback sessions. It is especially important to me that my employees feel comfortable and valued, and our extensive feedback culture plays a very important role in this.

What did you study? Do you come from the tourism industry?

After graduating from high school, I studied “Culture and Technology” in Cottbus for my Bachelor’s degree and then also for my Master’s degree with a specialisation in the philosophy of technology. Before Juvigo, I was responsible for product PR at a large online marketplace. I can now apply many of my experiences from there here as well. Juvigo is now my first job in tourism.

What does a typical working day look like for you?

In the mornings, I start my day with a good cup of coffee while catching up on the latest news from the tourism industry, carefully filtering out the updates most relevant to us. Next, I review our Google rankings and identify pages that still need optimization. A key part of my day involves proofreading my colleagues’ texts, assigning new tasks, and conducting thorough keyword research. At irregular intervals, I hold job interviews and welcoming applicants to our office to get to know them better.

To ensure our platform is filled with the best family holiday options, I am constantly scouting for new offers, carefully selecting those that align well with our vision and would appeal to families. My role also includes occasional tasks such as writing press releases and organizing key meetings, like those for the annual ITB travel trade fair. These diverse responsibilities keep my days varied and rewarding.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

What I enjoy most is reaping the positive fruits of my work. When I see that our landing pages have a good Google ranking and we gain visibility, that is the greatest confirmation of my work and that of my team. It’s the same in the area of press relations when a press release results in a newspaper article, a podcast recording or an interview with our CEO.
I also enjoy giving trainings to new young talents and seeing how they develop their own skills and contribute fresh ideas to us, whether at Juvigo or Famango.

What do you enjoy least about your work?

As my role at Juvigo has developed, I have been able to hand over more and more unpleasant tasks and concentrate on the things that I particularly enjoy. Nevertheless, as a teamlead there are tasks that are less enjoyable, such as deciding on changes in the team and then communicating them. Fortunately, the HR team is a great support here.

Do you feel comfortable at Juvigo?

I feel very comfortable at Juvigo and I am happy that I have found an employer that suits me and my life. I can arrange my working hours flexibly and thus balance my family and career well. The accurate time recording helps me a lot to keep my working hours in check. If I do accumulate overtime, I can easily compensate for it with free time.

Who would you recommend working at Juvigo to?

In my opinion, a job at Juvigo is perfect for career starters. Here you can experience corporate development live and contribute your own ideas. A job at Juvigo is also a good start to a career in tourism for students and interns.
