Job profile – International Internship at Juvigo

Hi there! My name is Yannick. During my free time I’d like to go out clubbing and dancing to electronic music, visiting football games and cooking.

What are you studying and where?

Currently I am enrolled in the research master Urban and Economic Geography at Utrecht University in the Netherlands.

How did you come to Juvigo?

I studied a year abroad in Berlin to finish my bachelors degree in Human geography and Spatial planning. After one of the classes I was tipped by one of the kind employees that there was a Dutch job opening at Juvigo. They were looking for a native Dutch speaking person to manage the Dutch platform of Juvigo. I saw this as a great learning opportunity and decided to apply for the job offer.

Do holiday camps, youth trips and language trips have a special meaning to you?

When I was younger I used to participate at youth camps myself. More than 10 years later I still have vivid memories of the fun, outdoor activities and camp fire chill-outs we’d have during these weeks. Moreover, I am still in contact with a few other participants now and then… These experiences and long-lasting connections I made, gave me a really great motivation to work for Juvigo.

What exactly were your tasks at Juvigo?

I was engaged with a variety of tasks. As a product manager I was doing and overseeing the Dutch customer service, managing the development of content on our website, and last but not least, responsible for carrying out marketing tasks such as forming and sustaining long-lasting relationships with tour operators in the Netherlands.

What did a typical working day look like for you?

A work day always started with a little cup of coffee and informal chats with my friendly colleagues. After starting up I would work on a variety of tasks; the communication with our customers and tour operators, developing content for our website and attending international meetings within Juvigo. Of course every day was different regarding the work I did. But what was the same every day: the nice lunches and informal chats I’d enjoy with my colleagues (and now and then going out somewhere for dinner or a drink after work).

How were you integrated into the (international) team?

I felt pretty engaged with the colleagues from all country sections, as there were many international meetings and cross-country collaborations.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

The diversity of tasks, the informal yet professional and international atmosphere at the office, the learning opportunities I’d get.

What do you enjoy least about your work?

If I’d have to mention one: the somewhat hectic atmosphere during the main booking season. There were many tasks going on at the same time.

What do you wish for Juvigo and especially for the international platforms?

Expanding to  all European countries.

Who would you recommend an internship to at Juvigo?

Someone who considers himself/herself as eager to learn, disciplined and motivated to accept and overcome the challenges.

Were you happy at Juvigo?

I was very happy. It made my period abroad into a learnful, challenging but also unforgettable experience.
